I went to US Bank today to cash a check for $20.00,

I was told there is a $5.00 Fee to cash this check,
unless I open an account. That is a 25% Fee for cashing a check from their own bank.

What a rip, I talked to the teller's supervisor, unable to resolve the situation, I told him that I will turn them into the Better Buisness Bureau ( www.BBB.ORG ).

And WWW.ripoffreports.com, he said he don't care!!
So, there you go, DON'T DO BUISNESS WITH THEM !!

This is the same type of fee that Bank of America charges for cashing a check from their bank.

For a long time, it has been understood that check cashing typically comes with fees, but this move takes it a step further since the check cashing fees are charged even if the check is drawn from that bank.

I went to Bank of America this week to cash a check. I did it because there may be a hold on some of the funds at my own bank which is Wells Fargo.

I went to B of A and had to wait a long time. They make you speak to an account manager at one of the desk. They keep asking me about getting an account. I tell them I got an account and don't need another one, just to cash a check from there bank. I mean, what if I don't have an account somewhere else? Is there any law saying I have to have an account anywhere?

If someone writes my a check from Bank of America, or any other bank for that matter, then I should be able to cash the check at the issuing bank without a hassle or fee as long as the check is legitimate...after all can't they easily verify one of their own account?

I complained about the 30 minute wait in the waiting area and immediately other people in the waiting area began to echo my complaints. The man at the bank who was essentially greeting people and surely helping to manage accounts began to defend his bank but was quickly snuffed by our combined and reasonable complaints.

I told him the bottom line is no one wants to do business with a person or business because they have to. His bank is essentially using blackmail to get account holders. It's a shame that so many people seem to buy in to there method.
